    Snap-Lug Quick-Disconnect Power Connectors

TE Connectivity's Snap-Lug power connectors handle heavy and harsh apps

    02/20/2017

A new series of heavy-duty power connectors from leading manufacturer TE Connectivity is now available in Europe through TTI, Inc., a world leading specialist distributor of electronic components. Snap-Lug Quick-Disconnect Power Connectors enable fast interconnection of heavy gauge power cables to bus bars, relays, batteries, power cables, grounding devices and more in aerospace, defence, marine and other harsh-environment applications.

Engineered to TE Connectivity’s renowned standards, Snap-Lug Quick-Disconnect Power Connectors are easy to use and require no special tools. As they are designed to replace traditional terminal lugs with safe, reliable, quick-disconnect, keyed locking connectors, the time-consuming process of affixing lugs to threaded posts with a torque wrench is avoided, saving time and enabling applied cost savings.

Snap-Lug Quick-Disconnect Power Connectors have a snap on/push to release design. As installation is achieved with a single piece that requires no washers or nuts, there is virtually no risk of foreign object damage or debris (FOD) occurring. Colour-coded and keyed for polarity, Snap-Lug Quick-Disconnect Power Connectors also help to prevent damage caused by accidental polarity reversal. As they are also self-locking, confirmed with an audible and tactile click, the risk of partial mating is minimized.

Snap-Lug Quick-Disconnect Power Connectors can withstand high vibrations and extreme temperatures, preventing unintended disconnects and maintaining continuous power even in the harsh environments found in transport applications. To ensure the connection is safe at all times, the Snap-Lug Connector has a shrouded design which provides a touch-proof connection with no metal exposed to prevent accidental shock incidents when under power.

Specifications include up to 500 mating cycles; vibration resistance to MIL-STD-1344, Condition V, Test D; mechanical shock to MIL-STD-810G, Method 516.6; flammability rating to UL 94V-0. Operating temperature range is -65degC to +150degC. Voltage rated to 1500VAC, Snap-Lug Connectors have current ratings (at 30degC T-Rise, max) of: 4 AWG 80A; 1/0 AWG 150A; 2.0 AWG 200A and 3/0 AWG 250A.
