    The SAE International 2013 Government/Industry Meeting to cover energy, environment and safety

    Safety, environment and energy conservation are on the agenda for the 2013 SAE International Government/Industry Meeting, set for Jan. 30-Feb. 1 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Host organization for the event is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The SAE Government/Industry Meeting brings together the leading technical authorities from government, industry and academia in a neutral forum to discuss the regulation, legislation and technical issues impacting the future of transportation, energy conservation, the environment, and safety. The opening keynote speaker on Wednesday, Jan. 30 will be David L. Strickland, Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Strickland will speak at 9 a.m. Wednesday's featured luncheon speaker will be Brian P. Sullivan, Risk Information Inc.; and Thursday's (Jan. 31) featured luncheon speaker will be Rebecca Lindland, Director of Research, IHS Global Insight. Both luncheon presentations will begin at 12:30 p.m. During a networking reception Wednesday, January 30, the Washington SAE DC Section has assembled several students groups that are competing in various engineering design events sponsored by SAE International. These groups, which include collegiate, high school and middle school groups, will display their engineering projects. In addition, the technical program will include Electronic Drive "Infrastructure Development", Electric Drive "Plug In" Vehicles, and efficiency regulation. SAE
