TMD to show high-power TWT amplifiers for EMC HIRF testing at EMV 2014

    02/12/2014

A wide range of travelling wave tube (TWT) amplifiers from TMD Technologies will be highlighted at the EMV 2014 exhibition and conference on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in Duesseldorf, Germany. TMD's capability extends up to 40 kW for certain special pulsed models, covering the frequency range from 10 kHz to 40 GHz using suites of solid state and TWT based amplifiers.

In particular, TMD has recently launched a range of ultra-high power pulsed TWT amplifiers, optimised for use in high intensity radiated fields (HIRF) EMC testing. Using these instrumentation amplifiers, EMC test laboratories have generated 14 000 V/m, easily complying with the latest, most demanding RTCA/DO-160 test requirements.

TMD is a world leader in design innovation in this field, and these compact, lightweight, rack mounted units benefit from being based on the company's rugged radar amplifiers, sharing the same switched-mode power supply technology. The company works closely with antenna specialists and chamber manufacturers to provide full turnkey EMC testing systems.

In addition to EMC applications, the units can be used for passive intermodulation (PIM) testing, scientific research and medicine. As well as off-the-shelf models, TMD can customise units to customers' own specifications. TMD has recently developed a full range of solid state amplifiers for use as appropriate, at frequencies below 6 GHz.

The company will be exhibiting on Stand 309 at EMV 2014.
