    03/04/2013

Transphorm announced that its CEO, Umesh Mishra, will present as an Energy Innovation Pioneer at IHS CERAWeek 2013. Being held March 4-8 in Houston, CERAWeek is a global conference drawing senior energy decision-makers, industry executives, government officials and thought leaders from around the world. CERAWeek 2013's 20 Energy Innovation Pioneers were selected as forward-looking companies and entrepreneurs who are developing technologies and business plans that are transforming the energy future. Claimed as the first to apply breakthrough Gallium-Nitride (GaN) technology to redefine electric power conversion, Transphorm's patented products offer unparalleled energy savings. Transphorm will present on the company's latest developments on Thursday, March 7, at noon. "I am thrilled that CERAWeek has recognized our efforts in delivering world record energy efficiency," said Mishra. "Utilities and other industry leaders will want to hear how our breakthrough Gallium Nitride technology is already yielding dramatic results by exponentially increasing energy efficiency in electric power applications." The co-founder and CEO of Transphorm, Umesh Mishra, also co-founded Nitres Inc. (acquired by Cree in 2000) - the first start-up company to develop GaN LEDs and transistors. Mishra was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2010 and received the prestigious IEEE David Sarnoff Award for "The Development of Gallium Nitride Electronics." He is also Professor Above-Scale (the highest academic rank in the University of California system) in the ECE Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he has been a director of several GaN research centers.
