Transphorm to dispel myths about GaN at APEC 2013

Transphorm announces that it will use its presence at the upcoming APEC 2013 conference and exhibition in Long Beach, Calif. (March 17-21) to dispel the pervasive myths in the electronics community about both the benefits and limitations of Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology. Transphorm encourages you to visit the company's exhibit (Booth 707) at the show to learn the facts about GaN from the company's team of respected academics and industry experts who will explain how this technology will reshape the power conversion market in the near future. Transphorm's participation will be kicked off by company CEO and co-founder Dr. Umesh Mishra whose plenary talk is titled "Compound Semiconductors: GaN and SiC, Separating Fact from Fiction in Both Research and Business." During the course of the three-day conference, several speakers from Transphorm's executive team will participate in technical sessions and panels with detailed, up-to-date information on GaN. Additionally, Transphorm will unveil its latest evolution in 600V products for power conversion applications at APEC 2013, as they promised to do at last year's APEC when they introduced groundbreaking 600V GaN High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMT). Also, in Booth 707, the company will display a demo of an inverter using GaN technology now in use in a solar application in Japan; a product that provides 98.2% efficiency for the full system and which is 40% smaller than their best Si IGBT solution. "Our mission at APEC 2013 is to disabuse the engineering community of its misconceptions about GaN, which are exaggerated both in what it can and cannot do," said Transphorm's CEO Umesh Mishra. "Journalists and analysts are invited to visit us at the show to learn the facts about GaN, which will be backed by actual products and rigorous research. We encourage those unable to attend APEC to contact us to find out about this exciting, game-changing technology." The following is complete line-up of Transphorm presentations at APEC 2013:
