Ultra-high Power Thick Film Chips Offer PCB Space Savings

    11/11/2021

Today’s electronics devices push the envelope for smaller designs and greater functionality. Stackpole’s RMCP-UP is a high-power thick film chip resistor with very high power ratings for each case size, ranging from 0.2W rated 0402 size to 3W 2512 size. These elevated power ratings allow design engineers to use smaller chip resistors to free up space for other components or reducing the overall board space needed to add functions and features.

Minimizing resistor footprints on a PCB is critical for commercial applications especially portable electronic devices.  The thick film based RMCP-UP is cost effective, RoHS and REACH compliant, and Halogen free.  Pricing for the RMCP-UP varies with size, resistance value, and tolerance.
