UPS Systems gets top railway accreditation

    12/01/2014

UPS Systems, the UK’s largest independent supplier of standby power solutions, has been awarded RISQS accreditation by Achilles.

The 'Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme' (RISQS), formerly known as Achilles Link-Up, has been developed to provide a fair, open and transparent third party qualification process for suppliers of products and services procured by the rail industry.

RISQS supports Network Rail, Transport for London, passenger, light rail and freight train operators, rolling stock organisations, main infrastructure contractors and other rail products and service providers in the management of supply chain risk.

Managing director of UPS Systems, Tom Sperrey, was delighted with the news: “RISQS is a nationally recognised benchmark and stands as testament to the very high standard that we strive to achieve on a daily basis.

"We are already accredited members within the Achilles UVDB community, and believe that RISQS accreditation will act as a further stepping-stone for the continued growth of UPS Systems.”

The nature of RISQS means that an approved business will be shown to prospective buyers instantly within its extensive database. This enables rail industry purchasers to identify high quality suppliers which have relevant accreditations and experience within this specialist industry.

In order to become accredited under the scheme, suppliers such as UPS Systems must demonstrate compliance with both industry-wide assurance requirements and specific infrastructure requirements as defined by relevant infrastructure managers.

Achilles creates and manages a global network of collaborative industry communities, allowing trading partners to share high quality, structured, real-time data.
