VARTA Microbattery, a leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of an extensive variety of high-technology rechargeable and primary batteries, announced that VARTA Storage is featuring the Engion Home solar energy storage system at Intersolar North America, held July 8 through 10, 2014 in San Francisco, CA. Compact and powerful, Engion Home is a member of VARTA Storage's Engion family of energy storage solutions utilizing lithium ion (li-ion) technology to store energy generated by home photovoltaic (PV) systems. The Engion Home energy storage system is designed to store electricity from the electric utility grid and/or a PV solar system for use during electrical power outages.

Fred Schellert, head of marketing and sales for VARTA Storage, stated, "Most importantly, homeowners with PV systems will benefit from the modular design of the VARTA batteries used in the Engion Home energy storage system. As the cost of electricity continues to rise, people are increasingly seeking to become independent of the public utility companies by installing solar rooftop panels in combination with state-of-the-industry energy storage systems. The VARTA Engion Home storage system offers the cutting-edge technology demanded by today's and tomorrow's homeowner."
With the robust VARTA Storage Engion Home energy storage system, which features VARTA's highly efficient li-ion battery modules to store the electricity generated from solar panels, power consumption commonly ranges from 20 to 70 percent of total self-consumption.

This sizable improvement in efficiency allows users to become increasingly independent of public utilities, therefore reducing the cost of electricity and ensuring power availability in the event of a power grid fault. As the Engion Home energy storage system is expandable due to the modular design of the batteries, systems are offered in sizes ranging from 2.8 kWh to 13.8 kWh.
