Vector presents push-button AUTOSAR-compliant diagnostic configuration

    02/06/2017

With version 8.5 SP2 of CANdelaStudio, Vector presents a solution for the creation of AUTOSAR-compliant configurations of the diagnostic basic software for vehicle ECUs. It enables development teams at vehicle and ECU manufacturers to generate AUTOSAR Diagnostic Extract (DEXT) files at the press of a button.

AUTOSAR DEXT is a new extension of the AUTOSAR system description. It is used to describe the Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) supported by AUTOSAR ECUs. Beginning with service pack 2 of version 8.5, the CANdelaStudio diagnostic specification tool offers an export function for generating the AUTOSAR Diagnostic Extract. The exported files correspond to the “Diagnostic Extract Template” standard introduced with AUTOSAR 4.2. Diagnostic development teams at vehicle and ECU manufacturers can thereby configure the diagnostics-related components of the AUTOSAR basic software faster and more easily.

The diagnostic user may easily create diagnostic descriptions with the intuitive user interface of CANdelaStudio. These descriptions are then able to be consumed in further process steps, e.g. data supply for testers or validation. Already in the previous versions of CANdelaStudio, users benefit from the various import and export functions for diagnostic data. With the possibility now also to generate AUTOSAR-compliant DEXT files at the press of a button, CANdelaStudio closes the gap to automated configuration of the AUTOSAR diagnostics-related basic software. Thus no additional effort is required for the initial configuration of this basic software. Another advantage offered by CANdelaStudio is the simple migration of already existing and common diagnostic formats, such as ODX, into the DEXT format.

Perfectly matched to this task, DaVinci Configurator Pro from Vector offers the possibility to read the DEXT files generated by CANdelaStudio and to use them for the automatic configuration of the diagnostics-related AUTOSAR components in the basic software. Vector thereby offers its customers a complete tool chain for the AUTOSAR-compliant development of the basic software including diagnostics, for specification, configuration and generation, validation as well as runtime environment simulation.
