The SYS-405Q includes USB, dual Ethernet, mini-PCIe and serial ports in a rigid aluminum alloy enclosure

WinSystems, a leading designer and manufacturer of rugged embedded computers, is introducing a fanless quad-core Intel® Atom™ E3845 based industrial computer. The SYS-405Q includes USB, dual Ethernet, mini-PCIe and serial ports housed in a rigid aluminum alloy enclosure. Designed for rugged applications, this industrial embedded system also features extended temperature operation and long-term availability.

Features
The SYS-405Q is available with up to 8GB of DDR3L SDRAM and supports both mSATA and CFAST Solid State Disks (SSD). The integrated graphics engine supports two simultaneously active displays with interfaces available for LVDS flat panels, analog VGA and DisplayPort 1.1. The +10V to +50V DC wide input power range makes the SYS-405Q easy to integrate.

The 5052 aluminum alloy enclosure is engineered for rugged applications. The rigid base plate provides the thermal solution and protects the PCB assembly from shock and vibration. The housing provides access to the CFast socket and can be removed for installation of Mini-PCIe and mSATA devices.

For networking and communications, the SYS-405 includes two Intel I210 Gigabit Ethernet controllers with IEEE® 1588 time-stamping. Four USB 2.0 channels and one high-speed USB 3.0 channel are present along with two 16C550 serial ports supporting RS-232/422/485 interface levels and clock options up to 20Mbps.

Linux, Windows®, and other x86 operating systems can be booted from a USB port, the CFast socket or the mSATA socket. WinSystems provides drivers and optional SSDs pre-installed with Linux, Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Windows 7 Pro.

The SYS-405Q includes two MiniPCIe connectors and one IO60 connector to allow additional I/O expansion. Both of the MiniPCIe connectors support half-length and full-length cards. One MiniPCIe connector also supports a bootable mSATA SSD while the other includes USB.

Pricing & availability
The SYS-405Q with 2 Gigabytes of DRAM is priced at $599 in OEM quantities with availability starting in July 2014. For applications requiring reduced power and cost, WinSystems also offers single-core and dual-core versions of the SYS-405.
