XP Power Launches 1500W Programmable DC Power Supplies

    01/12/2021

XP Power announces the introduction of the PLS1500 series of 1500W rated, 1U high, 19” rack-mount programmable DC power supplies. This latest extension complements the 600W PLS600 range for higher power equipment in a wide variety of OEM, industrial, and laboratory applications. Typical applications include component, automotive and aerospace testing, medical, semiconductor fabrication, broadcast, and telecoms.

There is a total of five units in the PLS1500 series offering DC output voltages of 30V, 50V, 100V, 200V, and 400V – all with a 1500W power rating. Up to four units can be connected in parallel (master/slave mode) for higher power (6kW) and up to two connected in series for higher voltage (up to 800V) and power.

Digital rotary controls on the front panel provide convenient adjustment of the output voltage and current. As they are velocity sensitive, a slow turn allows fine adjustment to an accuracy of 0.1%. The inbuilt 12-bit D/A and A/D converters allow the units to also measure voltage and current with a similar degree of accuracy. This capability saves users the added expense and space for extra measuring instruments.

On the rear of the power supply are ports that allow for remote control via USB, Ethernet and analogue control inputs. The USB and Ethernet inputs are SCPI compliant, supporting LabVIEW™ and Interchangeable Virtual Instrument (IVI) drivers. The PLS1500 is also LXI certified to meet the interoperability standards for LAN-based instruments.

Remote sense is included to allow use with loads that are located away from the unit. To avoid any damage to the unit under test (UUT), inbuilt over voltage protection (OVP), over current protection (OCP) and overpower protection (OPP) limit the output current and voltage.

All models within the PLS1500 series are certified to IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368-1 (EN/UL/CSA) safety standards. The units are CE-marked in compliance with the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC for Class A products and comply with the Canadian ICES-001 standard.

The PLS1500 series is available now from Digi-Key, Farnell, Mouser, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power and come with a 3-year warranty.
