    XP's Compact Industrial & Medical 400W Power Supply Delivers 600Wmax in 6" x 4" Footprint

    02/11/2011

XP Power today announced the FCM400 series of single output high efficiency 400W AC-DC power supplies suitable for a wide range of industrial and medical applications. Having an enclosed low noise fan and measuring just 152.4 x 101.6 x 49.0mm (6 x 4 x 1.93 inches), the compact units have a power density of 13.9 Watts per cubic inch and a typical efficiency rating of 85%. It is believed that the FCM400 has one of the highest power densities of any 400W power supply with medical safety approvals. The FCM400 series can provide a higher peak power capability, up to 600W for 0.5 seconds. This is important for applications that might draw a higher current for a short period, and enables the customer to specify the unit in place of a larger higher rated unit, therefore saving space and cost. Medical applications that might demand a high peak power include respiratory appliances, surgical equipment and hospital beds. Accommodating the wide input range of 80 - 275VAC, the family comprises 6 models with nominal outputs of +12, +15, +24, +28, +36, or +48VDC. An output trim allows an adjustment of +/-10% to suit non-standard voltage requirements and compensate for any voltage drops in the end system. The series meets the electrical safety standards of both IEC 60601-1 / UL 60601-1 for medical equipment and IEC 60950-1 / UL 60950-1 for industrial and IT equipment. The series also complies with EN 55022 / EN55011 specifications for Class B conducted and Class A radiated emissions without the need of additional filtering components. A +5VDC 0.5A always on standby output provides a supply for logic and memory functions without the need to design-in an additional voltage source. Remote on/off, AC OK and power fail signals provide basic monitor and control functions when integrating into the end system. A 3 year warranty is provided as standard. The FCM series is available from stock from Farnell or direct from XP Power. www.xppower.com
