Motorists who have a hankering for a classic muscle car, but without breaking the bank (or relying on fossil fuels) have a new option – the 2027 Ford Mustang Mach-E.
The Mustang Mach-E always was a sublime combo of beefy aesthetics and energy efficiency, but price was another matter entirely. Or rather, the expected value.
For starters, the Mach-E is a compact crossover SUV, vs the gas-powered Mustang’s coupe or convertible configurations. That, alone, raises the expected price point.
But the 2026 Mach-E also includes a smaller battery – and hence, shorter range – at the standard option. The Standard Range Battery is set at 73 kWh, and depending on whether it’s AWD or RWD, the range is from 225-260 miles. Meanwhile, the Extended Range Battery (88 kWh) achieves anywhere from 300-320 miles per charge.
Oh, and the Extended Range option will run you more than $5K over the entry level model.
And in case you were wondering, the highest-range entry-level electric vehicle is the Tesla Model 3 at 363 miles, with others like the Hyundai Ioniq 6 (Long Range RWD) at 342 miles (though of course, those aren’t SUVs, crossover or otherwise).
That said, with the 2027 model year, the Mustang Mach-E comes standard with the 88 kWh extended-range battery, with the GT and Rally versions using a 91 kWh pack.
And yes, the 2027 base model is a tad pricier than previous starting options, but not by much, and either way, every model sports at least a 73 kWh battery.
“The 2027 Ford Mustang Mach-E lineup is less expensive at the top end and more expensive at the bottom end, though thankfully, the higher pricing comes with larger batteries,” notes Car and Driver.
