    Tesla's Pickup Truck is...uh...Something

This is either the coolest thing I’ve ever seen or the biggest eyesore since the carriage went horseless. One thing’s certain – Tesla’s pickup truck commands your attention.

And really, would you expect any less from celebrity mogul Elon Musk? This is the guy who said we could make Mars livable by nuking the poles and considered a roller coaster at one of his plants. For better or worse, Musk abides no half-measures, and he’s not afraid to challenge the status quo to the point of absurdity.

If the real-life Iron Man commits to building a pickup truck, it’ll be anything but conventional. And that’s exactly what’s happening here – Musk previously stated that Tesla’s “Cybertruck” “won’t look like a normal truck. It’s going to look pretty sci-fi. That means that it’s not going to be for everyone.”

So don’t expect an F-150 clone, though Musk has mentioned that his truck will cost less than $50,000 and sport the option for 400 to 500 miles of range, with dual motor all-wheel-drive powertrain and 300,000 lbs of towing capacity.

And how’s this for ambitious – Musk said that the Cybertruck should be “a better truck than a [Ford] F-150 in terms of truck-like functionality and be a better sports car than a standard [Porsche] 911.”

So, you know, a groovy pickup truck that outhauls its contemporaries and out-cools your dad’s mid-life crisis. Sound doable?

With Musk, anything is (seemingly) possible, so I’m forced to at least consider the possibility that he’ll disrupt yet another market.
