This $1 Million Hybrid Supercar is a Bargain

The Koenigsegg Agera RS. Start saving, folks.

Want to go green and have more money than you know what to do with? Koenigsegg has the deal of a lifetime (because it’ll take most of us a lifetime to afford it).

The Swedish luxury automaker announced a $1 million hybrid supercar, and believe it or not, this is the bargain model.

You see, Koenigsegg makes sports cars for people who sneeze Ferraris. The kind of person who goes skeet shooting with Monets.

Their latest creation, the Agera RS, is a custom-built supercar at a “slightly lower price” – and given that the average Koenigsegg runs anywhere from $2.5-5 million, $1 million seems like a steal.

The Agera RS is CO2-neutral and pairs a hybrid-electric system with a camless combustion engine that forgoes camshafts for a series of actuators. CNET reports that it can keep some valves closed or shut off entire cylinders to improve fuel economy, and the engine can start with pure alcohol.

It can also put out 1160 bhp on regular petrol, and the rear spoiler can handle up to 450 kg at 250 km/h.

"The idea is to prove to the world that even a combustion engine can be completely CO2-neutral," said the company’s owner and namesake Christian von Koenigsegg.

If you’re interested, better jump on it – the Agera RS will be handcrafted at a “higher volume” of 25 cars.
