Spread Spectrum

Definition

A technology that modulates a signal over many carrier frequencies at once. This method can be used to make transmissions more secure, reduce interference, and improve bandwidth-sharing.

Spread-spectrum techniques can also be used to reduce electromagnetic interference by dithering the clock frequency so emissions are no longer concentrated at one frequency.
