ABB North America announces addition of IEC 61850 transmission courses to 2013 training agenda

Hands-on training courses will provide insight into fundamentals of IEC 61850 as applied to protection and control, and comprehensive relay application principles on transmission protection

ABB has released the schedule for its upcoming 2013 hands-on training to be held at the company's Raleigh, NC facilities. Developed for relay technicians and protection engineers, power system consultants, and substation automation system and communications engineers, these 3- and 5-day training courses are CEU accredited and deliver great depth in the field of substation protection and control. Transmission Line Protection, scheduled for January 7-11, provides comprehensive relay application principles on transmission protection. The course is designed to give attendees the tools necessary to understand, apply, and set transmission-line relays on power systems. The course will be preceded with an overview of symmetrical components. IEC 61850 for Protection and Control is scheduled for January 29-31 and will focus on the fundamentals of IEC61850 as applied to protection and control applications. Students will gain knowledge and experience in a variety of topics including Ethernet network design, GOOSE message engineering, and interoperability between ABB and other major IED manufacturers.
