APEC 2017 issues call for professional education seminar and industry session proposals

    08/10/2016

APEC 2017, to be held in Tampa, FL, from March 26-30, 2017, offers attendees a wide range of educational opportunities. In addition to peer-reviewed technical paper sessions, the well-respected IEEE conference also features Professional Education Seminars (PES) and Industry Sessions. Interested speakers are invited to submit proposals for PES and Industry Session presentations by September 2, 2016.

    Professional Education Seminars

Professional Education Seminars at APEC 2017 will address the need for in-depth discussions of important and complex power electronics topics. Each PES is three-and-a-half hours in length, including breaks. Final presentations include tutorial notes printed in PowerPoint slide form. Topics can be broad or narrow in scope and range from introductory to advanced technical levels. The PES should address the practical issues of the specification, design, manufacture and marketing of power electronic components, products, and systems. Abstracts for a PES presentation must be submitted online for consideration by Sept. 2, 2016.

    Industry Sessions

APEC’s Industry Sessions, which run in parallel with the more formal technical paper sessions, have proven to be very popular with attendees. In these sessions, speakers present a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation and a five-minute Q & A. The target audience for Industry Sessions differs from the engineers attending the peer-reviewed Technical Program Paper presentations and may include system engineers/architects and business-oriented professionals, such as purchasing agents, information technologists, regulatory agencies, and others who support the power electronics industry. Abstracts for proposing an Industry Session presentation must be submitted online by Sept. 2, 2016.
