Energy Micro is expanding its design centre in Krakow, Poland. The company is also establishing a collaboration with the local AGH University of Science and Technology to help develop the skills needed in today's semiconductor industry. Energy Micro's Design Centre in Krakow, which opened in July 2012, currently consists of an engineering team of embedded-software developers specializing in the development of radio protocols. The company is now looking to expand its operation in Poland by establishing a chip design and verification team to help accelerate its development of new and innovative, energy-efficient ARM Cortex-M based microcontrollers and radios. In addition to expanding the local design team, Energy Micro works closely with the local university in Krakow to help create a more focused learning environment for science and technology students. Established in 1919, AGH University is one of the most prestigious and modern Polish universities. Rector of AGH University, Professor Tadeusz S?omka said, "To continue being a leader in educating technically able students, we need strong technical partners. By working with Energy Micro we get additional focus on research, development, and education within the field of microcontrollers." "Energy Micro has design centres in Norway and Poland, and increasing the team in Poland is a strategic investment for our company", said Geir Førre, CEO of Energy Micro. "Collaboration with local academia, including AGH University, is an important step in focusing technical education in a way that will create more skilled jobs and develop the skills needed to underpin our company's future growth".
