EPSG to present solutions for IIoT at SPS IPC Drives

    11/14/2016

At the SPS IPC Drives trade fair, the EPSG will be demonstrating how POWERLINK can be used to create interface-free networks for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and smart factories of the future. Other high- lights to be found at Booth 410 in Hall 2 include brand new POWER- LINK products from Weidmüller and Danfoss, a solution for seamless integration of robotics controllers in POWERLINK networks. Visitors will also get a first glimpse at a student- project submitted for the 4th Indus- trial Ethernet Awards.

A primary focus of the EPSG booth
will be completely interface-free communication within and between manufacturing systems. OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA) is a manufacturer-independent commu- nication protocol widely viewed as the de facto standard for for industrial automation applications. That‘s why the EPSG and the OPC Foundation are currently collabo- rating on efforts to make machine data available seamlessly across the traditional boundaries of vendor- and platform-dependency.

    New POWERLINK products
In addition to new POWERLINK products from Danfoss, STW and ADVANCED Motion Control, a special highlight will be the modular u-remote I/O system from Weidmüller, featuring a POWERLINK interface. u-remote receives data using XDD files, which makes it easy to integrate in any development environment. When combining various machines and components to form complex production lines, OEMs and system integrators benefit from the exceptional migration and diagnos- tics capabilities offered by the u-remote system.

    Robot integration
Another focus of the EPSG booth will be on seamless integration of robots into POWERLINK networks. Visitors will see implementations from KUKA, Comau and more. They will also get to see the progress being made on a robotics project being deve- loped by students at the University of Poitiers for submission to the Industrial Ether- net Awards. Registration for the competition is still open until the end of the year.
