Flex Power Modules has introduced the BMR353, a next-generation high-power DC/DC intermediate bus converter (IBC) engineered for the demanding power requirements of AI data centers.
The non-isolated eighth-brick IBC delivers a fully regulated 12.2 V output from a 40-60 V input, providing 860 W of continuous power (72 A) with a peak capability of up to 1,200 W (100 A). The peak rating accommodates the fast, dynamic transient loads of AI compute and inference workloads, while the regulated output provides a stable intermediate bus for loads such as storage subsystems, cooling equipment, and expansion infrastructure, as well as powering downstream point-of-load conversion.
The BMR353 delivers exceptional efficiency, reaching up to 97.8% at 54 V input and half load, reducing energy losses and simplifying thermal management in densely-packed systems. With a building height of just 0.504 in (12.8 mm) and a footprint of 2.30 x 0.89 in (58.4 x 22.7 mm), the converter is ideal for space-constrained board designs. A novel design of baseplate further optimizes thermal performance while minimizing height.
The BMR353 features PMBus configuration and is compatible with the Flex Power Designer, remote controls, and event data recorders to give engineers access to configuration, status and fault data. The module also provides monotonic startup, output over-voltage shutdown, over-temperature protection, and output short-circuit handling.
The converter is designed for through-hole mounting and supports wave soldering, pin-in-paste reflow, and manual soldering, giving operators flexibility across high-volume and prototype production processes.
The BMR353 is available now.
