Compact 3.2 × 1.6 mm ferrite beads support up to 11 A rated current with low DCR and wide impedance range
Bourns® MH3261-T Series Ferrite Beads for high-current EMI suppression

Bourns announced the MH3261‑T Series High Current Chip Ferrite Beads, designed to address EMI suppression challenges in high‑density PCB layouts where current capacity and board space are constrained. The series combines a compact 3.2 × 1.6 mm footprint with low DC resistance and rated current capability up to 11 A, enabling noise suppression without introducing excessive power loss. These characteristics support stable performance in space‑limited designs.

As power densities increase and PCB assemblies become more compact, designers face tighter limits on allowable insertion loss while maintaining effective high‑frequency noise suppression. Ferrite beads used in these environments must carry higher currents without thermal overstress or impedance degradation. The MH3261‑T Series addresses these constraints by pairing low DCR with a wide impedance range, supporting EMI control in dense layouts while operating across a broad temperature range from –55 °C to +125 °C.

“High‑density power require ferrite beads that can carry substantial current without compromising impedance or thermal margin,” said Edward Liu, Product Line Manager, Component Magnetics, Bourns. “The MH3261‑T Series was developed to provide low DC resistance and rated current up to 11 A in a compact footprint, helping designers manage EMI in constrained layouts while maintaining operating stability over the full –55 °C to +125 °C temperature range.”

    Design Features and Key Capabilities

    • High rated current capacity — supports rated current from 2 A to 11 A depending on impedance value, enabling use in high‑current power paths
    • Low DC resistance — DC resistance as low as 0.0025 Ω minimizes power loss and temperature rise at rated current
    • Wide impedance range — impedance values from 30 Ω to 1000 Ω at 100 MHz provide flexibility for targeted EMI suppression
    • Compact, low‑profile package — 3.2 × 1.6 × 1.1 mm size supports high‑density PCB layouts
    • Wide operating temperature range — rated for –55 °C to +125 °C, including temperature rise at rated current
    • RoHS compliant* and halogen free**

    Target Applications

    • EMI suppression in power supply rails
    • EMI suppression in power lines
