Philip Chesley of Intersil on backup power in automotive systems (PSCtv)

    09/22/2014

In this episode of PSDtv Philip Chesley, Vice President of Intersil’s Precision Products Group, talks to Alix Paultre of Power Systems Design about their latest solution for managing the batteries in today's advanced automotive systems. Intersil's ISL78692 is a 4.1V single-cell battery charger designed to extend the life of Li-ion batteries in automotive eCal) systems. The ISL78692 battery charger dissipates lower leakage current (3uA) than competing solutions, allowing the backup battery to remain charged for a longer period of time. Lower charging voltage also extends battery life while the device’s small footprint reduces total solution size.
