Power Integrations appoints Thomas Simonis VP of High-Power Products

    07/26/2016

Power Integrations, a leader in driver technology for high-voltage IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs, announced the appointment of Thomas Simonis as VP of high-power products with responsibility for product management, R&D and marketing. With over 25 years of service in the high-voltage motor-driver and semiconductor industries, Mr. Simonis joins Power Integrations with senior technical and business management experience at a variety of companies including ATB, CPM and Infineon. Mr. Simonis succeeds Wolfgang Ademmer, who is retiring from Power Integrations after joining the company in 2012 via the acquisition of CT-Concept.

According to Balu Balakrishnan, CEO of Power Integrations, “I thank Wolfgang for his service and dedication over the last four years. Wolfgang helped build CT-Concept into a market-leading company, and has been instrumental in the successful integration of the business into Power Integrations. I’m very pleased that in Thomas Simonis we have attracted a highly accomplished manager and business leader to drive the next stage of our growth in the high-power market.”

Added Mr. Simonis: “I am excited to join a company with such an outstanding track record of ground-breaking innovations in high-voltage power conversion. Power Integrations has an impressive portfolio of high-voltage gate-driver products, such as the brand-new SCALE-iDriver™ family, and I look forward to driving continued growth and innovation as a member of PI’s leadership team.”

Mr. Ademmer commented: “Our success has been due to the continuous introduction of revolutionary driver products, and with Thomas joining the PI high-power team the company is gaining significant experience in innovation-management. Under Thomas’s leadership, our team will continue to develop cutting-edge gate-driver products for the inverter market. While I regret leaving PI, which is a great company, I’m pleased that PI’s high-power business is in good hands.”
