In an era where energy is essential even with increasingly extreme weather, backup power is no longer optional for critical operations. Power interruptions cost American businesses an estimated $150 billion each year. Add in recent regional outages, such as the 2021 Texas winter freeze that caused up to $130 billion in damages, and the growing financial and operational stakes are clear. As healthcare clinics maintain uptime, small businesses safeguard continuity, and manufacturers protect production lines, the standards for generator reliability and adaptability are rising.

Choosing backup power isn’t just about today’s performance. It’s about knowing your investment will hold up tomorrow, next year, and ten years from now. Rehlko has expanded its KD Series 80–600 kW flagship line in North America. Ideal for mission critical applications such as construction sites, emergency backup for commercial facilities, agriculture, telecom infrastructure, and remote operations, the KD Series provides reliable, on-demand where and when power is essential. The larger KD Series range was built to the same benchmark of quality, with new models bringing trusted performance to a wider span of applications and customers. The first available units in this launch will include 10 diesel generator models ranging from 80-300 kW, rated at 60 Hz.

Proven in the Extreme

Reliability starts long before installation. Every KD Series generator undergoes a rigorous, multi-phase validation process that exceeds global standards to ensure consistent, field-ready performance.

●      Thermal performance validation full and partial loads tests confirm that each generator maintains output even under extreme temperature.

●      Electrical safety compliance aligns with global and regional standards IEC and UL to guarantee electrical continuity and short-circuit protection for people and property.

●      ISO 8528-9 vibration and structural integrity testing ensures Rehlko gensets meet strict criteria for long-term mechanical stability. This prevents component fatigue and ensures sustained reliability.

●      Performance class compliance with ISO 8528-5 (G3 load acceptance) guarantees smooth load absorption and dependable power through transient phases.

In Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa, each KD Series generator undergoes a full-load Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) using calibrated load banks, often with the customer present. Testing verifies performance to ISO 8528-5 (G3) standards, confirming voltage and frequency stability through load-step transitions. All units are functionally checked for control, protection, and alternator performance, with results digitally recorded and a witness report is available upon request.

Tailored Testing for Your Environment

Extensive testing ensures operational integrity in high-stress environments, from high and low temperatures and altitude zones to high-humidity installations. Rehlko also runs tests to prepare for North America’s many potential extreme weather events.

From computational simulation and analysis like finite element analysis (FEA) for high winds, Rehlko products are tested to ensure they hold up in the worst conditions. This also includes missile impact testing for objects propelled by high winds, triaxial shake-testing for earthquakes, as well as rain testing to validate enclosure integrity and ensure uninterrupted operation in wet conditions. Our zero-compromise approach means every unit shipped is field-ready and performance-certified.

Configured Without Compromise

No two installations are the same. Voltage requirements, enclosure types, controllers, and regional codes all vary by site. The KD Series expansion has thousands of configurations, with customers able to specify:

●      Specific voltage and frequency settings at 60 Hz

●      Open unit, weather or sound-attenuated enclosures

●      Advanced controllers with remote monitoring capability

●      Compliance with regional emissions and grid codes (e.g., CE, EPA Tier 3, GCC standards)

Engineers design each system to align precisely with customer requirements, supported by modular accessories and regional certifications. Whether serving a remote industrial facility or a high-density urban commercial building, the KD Series delivers consistent performance across diverse operating conditions, without loss of quality. Also, KD Series enclosures provide quieter operation while being certified for high heat, extreme cold, 181-mph hurricane winds and up to 3500-hour of salt spray exposure.

Built for Long-Term ROI

Investing in backup power is about more than immediate security. The KD Series is designed to reduce total cost of ownership, provide easier access to trusted genuine parts, and extend uptime over its lifecycle. With full-authority electronic controls, the KD Series can optimize operation, improve cost control, provide valuable performance data, and ensure smooth integration with other components.

For example, when paired with the Rehlko APM603 Controller, onboard paralleling allows up to eight generator sets of mixed sizes and fuel types which eliminates the need for a master control panel (MCP) for both load management and generator management. This delivers load management support for up to 16 loads per system on a single generator or paralleling system that supports low-cost configurability that allows the shedding of lower priority loads to ensure critical loads are always powered.

Real-World Applications

The KD Series 80–600 kW range is suitable across a spectrum of industries:

●      Healthcare facilities: Emergency power that meets stringent regulatory demands.

●      Manufacturing and utilities: Robust solutions for sites with high load variability.

●      Commercial facilities: Reliable backup for operations where even minutes of downtime have a cost.

KD Series engines are EPA Tier 3 certified and HVO compatible which means better power that’s better for the environment. This not only means reduced emissions, but lower costs, all with engines that deliver optimal fuel efficiency and reliable performance.

Proactive Care, Predictable Costs

The generator is the heartbeat of your operations. Rehlko’s Service Agreement Program, Performance Care 360, is intended to deliver OEM-backed generator maintenance designed to maximize uptime and operational efficiency. Certified Rehlko technicians provide proactive, scheduled service using genuine parts and the latest system updates. This regular maintenance, priority service, and predictable costs, will help avoid unexpected downtime and save on emergency repairs. Plus, frequent site visits help us better understand how the generator is used, to recommend improvements and feed insights back into product development. And, these visits help us gather real-world usage insights, allowing for tailored recommendations. Put simply, customers benefit from faster response times, reduced downtime, and transparent pricing reducing total cost of ownership.

This closed feedback loop enhances both equipment performance and customer satisfaction, making the Service Agreement Program a strategic asset for long-term reliability and cost control.

The Service Agreement Program, Performance Care 360, is built around proactive care, expert support, and genuine Rehlko parts, all delivered by technicians who know your equipment inside and out. With global availability through our distribution network, you can count on fast, reliable parts when it matters most.

A New Generation of Backup Power, Built for Long-Term Value

Right now, ten models between 80-300 kW diesel generators in 60 Hz are available in North America, but the KD Series global launch expands that to 60–600 kW in 2027 with a complete lineup engineered for every power need. Whether you need essential on-demand power in hospitals and healthcare, telecom infrastructure, or construction sites, we’re advancing the standard for backup power for your industry. And ensuring that, from blizzards to hurricanes, every enclosure is ready for whatever the world throws at it.
