As electric vehicles and batteries have become more sophisticated, we’ve witnessed the emergence of gigafactories. The term was first coined by Tesla CEO Elon Musk in 2013, and it’s since been adopted by other manufacturers involved in EVs and their associated parts and components. But have we become over-reliant on gigafactories, and is this really the best path forward for the industry?
