PSMA magnetics industry session at APEC 2016 addresses high-frequency considerations

    03/04/2016

The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) Magnetics Committee is sponsoring an Industry Session at APEC 2016 titled, “High-Frequency Magnetics: Black Magic, Art or Science?” Its goal is to address many of the challenges facing magnetics design in high-frequency switch mode power supply topologies. The session will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, in Room 201A of the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center in Long Beach, California.

The Magnetics Industry Session (IS09) will feature seven presentations by experts from Ridley Engineering, Coilcraft, West Coast Magnetics, Wurth Elektronik, Rubadue Wire, Micrometals and Vacuumschmelze covering a wide range of topics in the field of high-frequency magnetics design. Topics include the future of SMPS magnetics, magnetics core loss, practical hints to get the design started, Litz wire, core materials and EMI considerations geared towards high-frequency magnetics.

Co-chairs of the Magnetics Industry Session, Stephen Carlsen of Raytheon and independent consultant Ed Herbert encourage APEC attendees to register and attend this valuable industry session, and to consider participating in the other PSMA-sponsored meetings during the week.
