The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) Nanotechnology Committee is sponsoring an Industry Session at APEC 2015 titled, “Nanotechnology — State and Federal Activities.” The session will take place on March 18, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:10 a.m., at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This year marks PSMA’s fifth Industry Session on nanotechnology at APEC. This year’s session will a focus on new and evolving technologies and applications that play important roles in power electronics. The Industry Session IS04 will comprise the following presentations by experts from industry, research and government:

“The Role of Consortia and Public and Private Partnerships in Nanotechnology,” Paul Farrar, Jr.
“Nanotechnology in North Carolina: Assets, Activities and Expertise,” John Hardin, North Carolina Dept. of Commerce
“Commercializing Nanoscience and Microtechnology Breakthroughs in Oregon’s Silicon Forest,” Robert Rung, Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute
“Nano-magnetics for High-Efficiency Power Supplies,” Santosh Kulkarni , Tyndall Institute, Ireland

The session on nanotechnology will not only be very informative on the topic of the state and governmental work taking place in nanotechnology, it will provide an opportunity for attendees to interact with other professionals who are active in this area. It will also be valuable for learning about the present and future impact on nanotechnology on the power electronics industry. Kevin Parmenter and Doug Osterhout, co-chairs of the PSMA Nanotechnology Committee, encourage APEC attendees to register and attend this Industry Session, and to consider participating in the other PSMA-sponsored meetings during the week.
