PSMA to hold APEC 2015 session on power semiconductors

    02/18/2015

The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) Semiconductor Committee is sponsoring an Industry Session at APEC 2015 titled, “Latest Advances in Power Semiconductors, a Less Biased Discussion.” The APEC session will take place onTuesday, March 17, 2015, from 8:30 a.m.-11:55 a.m. at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Offering a focus on new and evolving technologies and applications that play important roles in power electronics, the Power Semiconductor Industry Session (IS01) comprises seven technology presentations by experts from Yole Development, NIST, Keysight Technologies International, Efficient Power Conversion (EPC), International Rectifier, GeneSiC Semiconductor Inc. and Infineon. The session will provide an overview of the latest achievements in power semiconductor materials / devices in a less biased format. Three speakers will provide a broad user view of how the new technologies are being adopted, what is needed and how the various alternatives compare.

The speakers will provide the latest update about the status of new devices including qualification and manufacturing, and highlight the applications in which these technologies offer significant advantages. The session also has two speakers presenting an overview of the market research on the adoption of wide bandgap semiconductor devices and the need for standardization in areas like datasheets, reliability testing and new specifications required.

The session will not only be very informative, but it will also provide an opportunity for attendees to interact with other professionals who are active in this area and to learn about the present and future impact of power semiconductors on the power electronics industry. Ranbir Singh, Ritu Sodhi and Carl Blake, co-chairs of the PSMA Semiconductor Committee, encourage APEC attendees to register and attend this valuable industry session, and to consider participating in the other PSMA-sponsored meetings during the week.
