The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) Safety & Compliance Technical Committee is sponsoring the Industry Session: “Regulatory and Compliance Considerations for Power Electronics” during the APEC 2017 conference. The Safety & Compliance session will take place in Room 14 on Wednesday, March 29th, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. at the Tampa Convention Center.

For the upcoming Industry Session IS06, four industry subject matter experts will provide insights into product safety standards and the ever-changing landscape of global compliance. The session is designed to include ample time for audience participation during the Q&A following each talk.

The scheduled session presentations will be:

“EMI Filter Safety”
“Mitigating EMI Problems & Filter Selection”
“Design Considerations for Power Supplies in High-Altitude Applications”
“What Doesn’t a Power Supply Have to Comply with These Days?”

PSMA Safety & Compliance co-chairs, Kevin Parmenter of Excelsys Technologies and Jim Spangler of Spangler Prototype, issued a joint statement about this session: “One of the most important aspects of practical power electronics is that they must work over time and temperature, both electrically and physically, and often in hostile conditions. Additionally, they must be able to meet the global regulatory and safety agency approvals and qualification testing. This session will be of interest to the practicing power electronics engineer who wants to learn about the latest developments in this area.”

APEC Industry Sessions provide an opportunity for attendees to interact with other professionals who are active in specific areas of the power electronics industry and to learn about innovative technologies key to successfully supporting their markets. The PSMA Safety & Compliance Committee encourages attendees of APEC 2017 to attend this informative Industry Session and to consider participating in the other PSMA-sponsored meetings during the week.
