Tom Spohrer of Microchip on updating high-availability power systems (PSDtv)

    05/14/2015

In this episode of PSDtv Tom Spohrer of Microchip talks to Alix Paultre of Power Systems Design about updating high-availability power systems. In this world of high-demand, high-reliability power systems, the ability to update on the fly can enhance any system. Their latest 14-member dsPIC33EP “GS” family of Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) includes advanced features such as Live Update Flash capability, which is especially helpful for high-availability or “always-on” systems. Live Update can be used to change the firmware of an operating power supply, including the active compensator calculation code, while maintaining continuous regulation.
