Volkwagen wants to remove 1 million cars from the roads by 2025. Their new all-electric, six-seat minibuses will headline an international ride-pooling service that aims to dramatically cut down urban congestion and pollution.

Back in July, we reported that Volkswagen’s famous hippie bus was going all-electric – the I.D. Buzz includes a 369-horsepower, all-wheel electric drive with a 270-mile range, and its 111 kWh battery can be charged to 80% in a mere 30 minutes.

The new ride-sharing electric bus only gets 186 miles/charge, but it has the same rapid-recharge rate. In 2018, VW will deploy 200 of these buses in Hamburg, Germany, a densely populated city that’ll serve as the perfect guinea pig. And by 2019, VW should have 1,000 ride-sharing buses in Hamburg, and they should begin branching out to other cities.
