Tesla Cybertruck Delayed to 2022

Tesla’s electric pickup that will “be better than F150,” sport a 250+ mile range, and have bulletproof windows won’t see the light of day this year.

The automaker quietly updated its Cybertruck page with the simple phrase “You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in 2022."

And that’s a shame, though maybe something this ambitious (and unique) deserves some extra time in the slow-cooker.

We’d previously covered this revelation/eyesore, and one thing’s absolutely certain – it grabs your attention. It’s hard not to stand out when it looks like the APC from Aliens, has bulletproof windows, and has the sharp lines and sleek design of something straight out of Total Recall.

It’s no slouch under the hood, either, with a dual motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, 7,500 lbs+ towing capacity, and the ability to go from 0-60 mph in <6.5 seconds. Oh, and it’s a pickup truck with greater stamina (250+ electric miles) than most electric cars.

Elon Musk claims the Cybertruck will land just under 50K, and that’s likely true for the Single Motor RWD model and the Dual Motor AWD version (minus taxes and options). You can add full self-driving for an extra 10K (to “secure your price as it increases in the future”), similar to most existing Tesla EVs, which include the self-driving hardware (without the necessary software, since we don’t have the capability just yet).

We should see the Cybertruck sometime next year.
